The 24th Seoul Women’s Film Festival will host two short films by Iranian filmmakers.
Charso Press: Two short films “Left Hand” written and directed by Nasreen Mohammadpour and “Nazarbazi” by Maryam Tashani are competing in the 24th edition of the Seoul Women’s Film Festival in the Asian Short Films section.
The 24th edition of the Seoul Women’s Film Festival will be held in Seoul from August 25 to September 1, 2022 (September 3 to 10), and they will compete in the Asian short films section in a series of 20 short films.
The Seoul International Women’s Film Festival is considered one of the most prestigious women’s film festivals at the international level, which showcases the works of female filmmakers from all over the world in competitive and non-competitive sections.
This festival is an event that presents new values and alternatives from a feminist point of view, along with the international Korean film festivals, which are held every year in late summer in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. The 24th edition of the Seoul Women’s Film Festival supports female filmmakers by discovering and screening films made by and about women with the aim of promoting gender equality in the domestic and international film, media and culture industries. This festival helps to promote the positive values of women and plays an essential role in creating a communication network between Asian countries and other countries. By discovering and supporting women in the film industry, the Seoul Women’s Film Festival provides ways to promote and showcase Korean women’s films outside of Korea’s borders.
Among the most prominent Iranian female filmmakers of the past periods of this festival, we can mention Rakhshan Bani Etemad, Manijeh Hekmat, Ansieh Shah Hosseini, Marzieh Meshkini, Tehmine Milani, Manya Akbari, Mounir Qedi and Farnoosh Samadi.
