He emphasized the need to speed up the approval of these drugs and insurance coverage and said: These drugs do not have insurance coverage and this should be done quickly.

Tasgami stated: Unlike in the past, when we faced a shortage of pen insulin, now we are faced with the diversity of different types of insulin.

He pointed out that according to the economic conditions, it is necessary to not remove the preferred currency for medicine, he said: “Now, increasing the price of vital medicines without seeing compensation in the insurances creates many problems and requires the agreement of different government bodies.” Is.

Referring to the presence of 150,000 type 1 diabetic patients in Iran, Kamran Niko Sokhon, CEO of the Iranian Diabetes Association, said: “Education of diabetic patients is very important and this education is not covered by insurance, so we emphasize this issue in this package.”

Criticizing the insulin distribution system for diabetic patients, he thought: There are many insulins in the market, but when the insulin prescribed by the doctor is not available in the market, a similar one is given, which causes problems.

Referring to the daily control of type 1 patients, Niko Sokhon said: Until now, there is no insurance coverage for blood sugar test and its strips in the main insurances.

He added: Diabetic children need blood sugar test at least three times, but the price of the blood sugar test strip package is very high.

Referring to the obsolescence and non-use of blood sugar tests and the use of new sensors, the CEO of the Iranian Diabetes Association said: “It is not fair for a diabetic patient to pay half of his salary to buy a blood sugar test, and these strips are now in short supply.”

Referring to the monthly cost of more than three million prescriptions for diabetic patients, he expressed: special attention should be paid to the issue of insurance coverage of these drugs so that patients can follow the treatment and do not abandon the treatment halfway.
