530 km of the capital’s surface water network was checked/ accident prevention during the recent rains

According to the city reporter of Fars News Agency, Alireza Zakani stated in the sidelines of the meeting of the crisis management headquarters of the city of Tehran about the flood: When we talk about the flood, we should consider collecting the surface water network or dredging the water conveying channels. Also, in this field, the necessary preparations in the valleys should also be taken into consideration.

The mayor of Tehran announced that last year, in an intensive program, 530 km of surface water network was investigated and action was taken, and reminded that: based on the contracts of Khakriz Water Municipal Company, we are also trying for the remaining 170 km. especially in west Tehran and region 22, we have put this issue on the agenda and we are following it seriously.

Emphasizing that many measures were taken to clean and dredge the canals, he noted: “Last year, we were more prepared in terms of flooding of roads than the year before, and the situation was the same this year.” A few days before the accident, preparations were made again and measures were taken.

Zakani continued: “The main canals of the city were full of water, and this showed that the marginal canals transport water well, so we did not have any incidents in the city.” Our preparedness should increase day by day and we should be able to provide preparations for citizens to live in peace and comfort.

He stated that based on what we estimated last year, out of 123 districts, only one district was in a red state at one stage, but the waterlogging was resolved, and said: At that time, even though preparations had been made in advance, 10,000 personnel were deployed in The surface of the streets was busy and the accident-prone spots were also identified so that we could monitor it moment by moment.

Zakani added: “In recent days, we have seen heavy rains, and the reservoirs did not have this amount of water.” At some point, we see that the municipality failed and did not dredge, but in this situation, despite the flood risk, we were able to drain the water. The flooding was quickly compensated and we did not allow it to become an accident.
