He said: “We have three hundred and fifty-three neighborhoods as health centers in Tehran. All health centers are active in the fight against tobacco.”
Behzad Valizadeh, the head of the Secretariat of the National Tobacco Control Headquarters of the Ministry of Health, in response to a Fars reporter’s question about the activities of smoking cessation clinics, said: “In the past, we had 153 high-level clinics in the country. About 5,000 centers provide counseling and smoking cessation services, which are also active in rural areas.
He said: “In these centers, the degree of dependence of people on tobacco is checked by a mental health expert to provide medical services to them. This service is free, in the case of people who are highly dependent and are referred to a doctor, but if you need to take medicine The required medicine is not free because the Ministry of Health does not have a suitable financial source.
Valizadeh added: “Part 5 of the 4030 system also provides smoking cessation services, the Ministry of Health facilitates smoking cessation services in the private sector, and doctors can provide services in their offices by passing the smoking cessation course.”
He said: “I hope the Ministry of Health will provide free medicine coverage by receiving appropriate financial resources.”
