Colonel Soraya did not get a passing grade either

According to Shirazi’s critic, Colonel Soraya could have been a good event at this year’s festival, but the final minutes of the film, which looked more like a promotional teaser with specific goals, damaged it a lot.
Charso Press: On the evening of Thursday 20th of Bahman, a review session of two films from the 41st festival was held in the book cafe of Hafez Hall, Shiraz, between the screening of the two films “Ataralod” and “Jangel Partqal”.
As is the routine of the festival nights in this hall, first the second film of the previous night was reviewed and about Colonel Soraya’s famous film “Lili Aaj”, which is considered one of the most important films of this year, by two critics and a group of attendees. A lot was raised.
One of the critics said about this movie: “Colonel Soraya” was a “situation-oriented” movie and it had a very good situation, and it was clear that a lot of practice was done on this situation and the shape of the story. Good performances are also taken from the actors, which is the characteristic of theater directors like Lily Aaj. He even got a good performance from the non-actors of the film.
Masoud Ahmadi added: The main weakness of this movie was that it had little story in relation to the duration and sometimes it became boring for the audience. Of course, from a technical point of view, the film was very good, and especially the type of filming gets an acceptable grade. But unfortunately, the last few minutes of the movie had nothing to do with the other things we had seen before and it was more like a promotional clip for specific purposes.
Another critic present in the meeting also said: Col. Soraya has a good and proper filming and besides, a good actor named Jhaleh Samati, who we have always seen in theaters, cinemas and televisions, shows of six dongs. . Of course, the type of his plays depends a lot on the directors’ playing style. I think that some of Ms. Samati’s acts were exaggerated in this movie, which were more suitable for theatrical work than acting in front of the camera.
Asghar Grossi while pointing out that the reason why the film became boring in some minutes was the long shots, regarding the nature of the film and the goals of its creators, he said: Ideological films are difficult in all systems and in all parts of the world, but the form And the quality of the movies is very important. Unfortunately, despite the publicity that was done in favor of the movie Colonel Soraya, and even though the subject of the movie was completely virgin and suitable, the full advantage of this good situation was not taken.
In general, despite the negative points of Colonel Suraya’s movie, it could be concluded from the words of both critics that this movie was better than the others among the movies that have been screened at Hafez Hall so far.
Also, short minutes were devoted to the movie “Ataralod” by Hadi Moghadam Dost. Moghadam Doost, who as a screenwriter has presented brilliant works such as White Status in collaboration with Hamid Nematullah, is apparently not very successful in directing, and his third film is unlikely to be well received by critics and audiences.
The opinions of two Shirazi critics were completely negative towards Aromad. Masoud Ahmadi considered this film “pre-criticism” and said: The script had many problems from the beginning. Scattered topics and stories, each of which could be turned into a film separately, but in this film, there was no proper connection and connection between these stories.
After the review session, it was time to release the film that many were waiting for. “Orange Forest” starring two good actors of Iranian cinema, namely “Mirsaeed Moloyan” and “Sara Bahrami” can be considered one of the different films of this period. A quiet film, without the big events that we see in the vast majority of films. However, it seemed that the audience in the theater was with the characters of the film until the end. The believable and lovable performance of Mir Saeed Molvyan, who previously showed his abilities with his attractive performance in the movie “Toman” and was seen even more in the series Khatun, had a strong role in accompanying the audience until the end of the movie.
It has to be seen whether the critics will vote positively for the first work of “Arman Khansarian” in the next review meeting.
According to ISNA, the amount of audience acceptance of the films screened in Hafez Hall is somewhat similar to what we saw in the last period before Corona. In the Bahman 2018 festival, despite the screening of noisy films by famous directors, the level of reception of the audience was not significantly different from the mood of Hafez Hall these days, and almost half of the seats remained empty. While in the festivals of the mid-90s, we saw a more enthusiastic reception and in many films, a large part of the balcony of Hafez Hall was also occupied by the audience.
It seems that the authorities, experts and critics of cinema should organize continuous meetings and make decisions for fundamental developments in this important field of the country’s culture in order to diagnose this problem and provide the necessary solution.
