70,000 special patients covered by health insurance

He added: “Also, the insured with cancer are exempted from paying the government tariff franchise in receiving specialized services (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) (receiving services from the public sector is free).”

The Director General of the Specialized Services Office of the Health Insurance Organization of Iran emphasized: On the other hand, in order to financially protect special and incurable patients, the Health Insurance Organization pays a part of the cost of the drugs they need (in addition to the basic insurance share) in the form of a memorandum. It is concluded with the Food and Drug Administration (according to the specified list), and thus the payment from the pocket of the target insured is significantly reduced and the available items are mostly related to the difference between the brand and generic prices.
