A deadly snake halted the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament

According to Fars news agency, Dominique Timm, the champion of the American Open, was scheduled to fight two Australian opponents in the first qualifying round of the Brisbane International Tournament, but during one match, a deadly snake caused the game to be suspended.

The former world No. 3 faced young Australian James McCabe on Saturday but lost the first set 6-2.

While the second set was going on, the fans in the stadium saw a snake, which caused the game to be stopped. Security staff were called and the referee had to temporarily stop play as the snake slithered down the field.

A snake catcher eventually caught the 50cm eastern brown snake and removed it from the venue to allow play to resume.
