A view of the global Horaman


Simultaneously with the inclusion of the Horaman / Oramanat cultural landscape in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran, revised the landscape of this land by recalling the photo exhibition “Oraman; “Sky lap” reviewed.

According to ISNA, quoting the public relations of the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran, Hojjatullah Ayoubi, Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran reminded: “With the very good efforts of Iranian experts, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts The Iranian representative office in Paris achieved this auspicious event. I must also thank the directors, officials and artists of the provinces of Kurdistan and Kermanshah who made significant efforts in this direction.

The Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran, stating that this case was of great importance for our country, reminded: Iranian artists in this way accompanied by organizing programs such as a group photo exhibition “Oraman; “Daman Aseman” played a significant role in this event, and I appreciate all of them.

Group photo exhibition “Oraman; Daman Aseman ”was held in October 2016 at the House of Iranian Artists in the presence of Hojjat Hesam Mehdi, the Egyptian evaluator of the Oramanat case, by the ICOMOS organization (UNESCO’s advisory body on the preservation and protection of cultural heritage).

The exhibition included 70 selected photographs from 35 Iranian photographers, especially from the provinces of Kermanshah and Kurdistan, which captured original images of nature, architecture, people’s daily lives, and unique mirrors such as the “Pirshalyar Wedding” and the “Palangan”.

Following the collection of programs related to the Oramanat World Cultural Landscape Registration File, the collection of selected works of this exhibition in 105 pages and 300 copies was published by the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran.

Horaman or Oramanat is the name of historical regions with stepped texture and special customs that include parts of Sarvabad, Sanandaj and Kamyaran cities of Kurdistan province and Paveh, Javanrood, Nodsheh and Nosud cities of Kermanshah province.

The architecture of Horaman (Oramanat) is fully adapted to the mountains and relies on construction using stone and dry China, and the houses in the villages of the region are built in a stepped manner due to the steep slope of the rocky slopes. The houses are mostly built on two floors. And according to livelihood, the space of houses is different from each other and the houses of gardeners, farmers and ranchers are more or less different. In many cases, the ground floor is dedicated to the herd and warehouse. The main residential space is located on the upper floor and consists of different sections. The inhabitants of this region also speak the Horami dialect.

The National Commission for UNESCO-Iran congratulates this great achievement to the honorable people of Iran and all the esteemed colleagues involved in this global cause.

The case of “Horaman / Oramanat Cultural Landscape” was examined at today’s meeting of the 44th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (Tuesday, August 5, 1400) in Fuzhou, China, and with the approval of the committee members, became the 26th tangible heritage of our country in the World Heritage List.

The gift of globalization registration for Oramanat

ISNA / Kermanshah, the director of the Oramanat World Cultural and Historical Landscape Site, said: “The registration of Oramanat globalization brings many gifts to this region.” And the privacy of this file, the process of reviewing its expertise in the World Heritage Committee was remarkable. Regarding the most important benefits of registering the globalization of Oramanat, he said: “With the global registration of Horaman, preserving the culture and language of Horaman as a human heritage will be an obligation of the international community.”

Talibnia emphasized: “Protecting the world-registered works during the wars as safe places, introducing their professional and worthy in different languages ​​and becoming important tourist destinations in the world is another important advantage of globalization, which is also in the economies of countries.” It will be effective.

He noted: “With the global registration of Horaman, this landscape will remain as a safe and peaceful place in history.”

He added: “Another benefit of registering a work as a world and its membership in the World Convention, especially for developing countries, is access to the World Heritage Fund, which provides annual credit to these member countries in order to identify, protect and introduce World Heritage Sites.” He understands that in the current situation, Horaman is in dire need of these financial and economic aids.

Talibnia continued: “Today, the registration of globalization is a factor in attracting international aid, and therefore they can receive financial aid from various sources belonging to world heritage protection projects.” Horaman and the language and culture of this land may be revived with this help.

He also noted that sites inscribed on the World Heritage List also benefit from the design and implementation of comprehensive management plans, which include appropriate conservation measures and appropriate monitoring practices. In order to support these master plans, the specialists provide the necessary technical training to the local site management teams.

The director of the Oramanat World Heritage Site added: “Registration of the site in the World Heritage List will make more people know about it and its values, and as a result, tourism activities in the site will increase.”

He added: “When such activities are well planned and organized taking into account the sound principles of tourism, they can bring significant financial resources to the area as well as to the local economy.”
