According to IRNA, the Ra’d Defense team of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran won second place in its first appearance in the Kurash Premier League. In this regard, we had a conversation with Colonel Mohammad Hassan Majlisi, the team’s manager.
He initially stated: “We witnessed the second round of the Kurash Premier League after a break of about three years.” The previous period was held in a more limited way and with the presence of five teams, Kosar Insurance Club won the championship. During this period, the number of teams reached eight and we witnessed considerable progress in terms of quantity and quality.
He pointed out: In the first round, the teams competed in two groups of four teams periodically. Raad Padafand team was grouped with Fakhr Bojnourd team in the second group, which turned our group into a death group. All games ended with a result of 4-3 to prove this. Fortunately, we managed to reach the final round. The second round was held with the presence of four teams and again as a group, and we became finalists together with Fakhr Bojnourd team.
The manager of Raad Padafand Army team said about the final match: “Like in the first round, we lost to Fakhr Bojnourd team with a result of nearly 4-3.” The majority of the national team players sent to the Asian Championships were members of the Fakhr Bojnourd team, and we only had 2 national teams. Qasem Nourizadeh in the weight of 66 kg and Omid Tiztek in the weight of 90 kg were the national team members of our team who fought. In the final match, we witnessed a close fight.
He also stated: In the previous period, our team was not present. This time we coached for the first time. We take this as a good omen and I hope that Raad Padafand will continue to be the representative of the Armed Forces in the Kurash Premier League. This is good for every side and for the sport of the country, and it will help the athletes who become soldiers.
Mohammad Hassan Majlisi, in response to a question about whether he expected such a result in the first presence or not, stated: Yes. We expected to be among the top three teams and go on stage. Most of our players and staff are from duty and power.
He said about the clash between Raad Padafand and Shadilon Khorasan Razavi: “We won this game with a result of 4-3.” One of our players was originally from Khorasan Razavi and had some problems with his fellow citizens. There was no other problem and that was a misunderstanding. Fortunately, the staff of both teams treated each other with respect. They are our friends too. Mohammad Rouhani and Ghafourian in the Shadilon team had a very good relationship with Mr. Khajeh Bafghi, Mr. Bustan Forouz, Mr. Valizadeh, Mr. Faraji, Mr. Sohrabi, etc. in our technical staff.
