Blinken’s account of his final conversation with Lavrov

Lavrov hosted his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir-Abdollahian in Moscow today, and the two sides discussed a range of issues, including the UN Security Council and the Vienna talks.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Amir Abdullahian today, Lavrov said that Iran would decide on the timing of the resumption of the Vienna Borjam talks in the near future. I do not accept the principles of the West and the United States and imposing them on others.

“My Iranian counterpart announced during the meeting that Iran is ready to resume talks,” Lavrov said.

The Russian official stressed that the efforts of some foreign parties to link the preservation of the UN Security Council with Iran’s concessions on other issues have no prospects.
