Carmakers’ efforts to increase prices / 150,000 cars in parking lots

According to Tejarat News, according to statistics, car manufacturers have already stored about 150,000 vehicles in parking lots.

Now we have to see what effect this refusal on the supply of cars has on the car market and especially the prices?

Quoted from Etemad newspaper, Car prices have increased by 35 to 62% since the beginning of the year by two major Iranian car companies.

For example, the price of the cashier Pride, which was 106 million Tomans on the first of April of this year, has reached 170 million Tomans with a 60% growth. Or the price of Peugeot 405, which was 180 million Tomans in April and has now reached 277 million Tomans.

In other models and brands, this price increase is repeated and can be seen.

Although automakers have complained about the shortage of parts and the high cost of raw materials and inflation, and say that this increase in prices will not compensate for their losses, but now it has been raised that the two major automakers deliberately refuse to market their products. They do so to raise prices.

The problem of the car market is supply and demand

Hamidreza Ghandi, president of the Isfahan Automobile Exhibitors Union, said: “The problem with cars now is supply and demand. Unfortunately, car manufacturers do not supply, which is why the price has risen.”

He added: “Since the inspection organization has considered the non-supply as a case of hoarding, it has been decided that by the end of the year, car manufacturers will offer a total of 100,000 cars to the market.”

According to the union official, if this happens, it will have a declining effect on the market, otherwise this trend will continue.

Ghandi said: “Automakers are imposing price increases on the market by not supplying them so that they can increase the factory price.”

What is the cause of car depots?

Zabihullah Khodaian, a spokesman for the judiciary, said yesterday: “Everyone saw in cyberspace that we have parking lots where thousands of cars are parked and people are asking why?”

He added: “Our colleagues in this field visited the bus stops and visited two car companies and agreed and negotiated with the authorities that by the end of November this year, the number of cars that are claimed to be defective will be reduced, but they did not fulfill their commitment. It was added.

A spokesman for the judiciary continued: “If these cars are due to defective parts in the park, why the number of cars decreases when the price of the car increases.” We claim that all the cars in the parking lots cause inflammation in the market and we have capital imprisonment in this regard, so the colleagues asked the officials of the two car manufacturers for explanations and they should send a response.

Khodaeian said: “If the answer is not conclusive, it will be sent to the judicial authorities and we are waiting to see if they will fulfill their obligations or otherwise the case will be referred to the judiciary.” Of course, the Minister of Industry and Mines has set a schedule, and I ask them to take action more seriously.

Production capacity was reduced by 40%

Hassan Karimi-Sanjari, a car market expert, also said about the parking lots where thousands of cars are parked: “The number of cars parked on the floor of parking lots and in parking lots is an unprecedented figure compared to recent years and according to statistics, it is about 150,000.” The car is on the floor that are in the commercial queue.

The car expert pointed out: In the current situation, the car market has lost about 40% of its production capacity compared to 2017, which was due to the severity of sanctions and other side issues, and in addition, the ban on car imports on prices. And the supply of cars to the market has not been ineffective.

Sanjari stated: “During this period, we witnessed a market that was close to the critical situation and the supply of cars was limited due to various issues.”
