China: US to immediately stop provocative actions in Taiwan

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Tan Kiwi strongly criticized US interference in China’s internal affairs and condemned the actions of a number of US Congressmen traveling to Taiwan on a military plane.

According to the Xinhua news agency, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said that the US action was an arbitrary interference in China’s internal affairs that dangerously violated China’s sovereignty and posed a threat to peace and stability in the region.

He added that the United States must immediately stop its provocative and destructive actions that are escalating tensions in the Taiwan region.

The Chinese official added that Washington should stop sending false signals to separatists in Taiwan.

He stressed that no one should ignore the determination of the Chinese people and their power to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that the Chinese military is still on standby and will take all necessary measures to eliminate any foreign interference.

Beijing considers Taiwan part of China’s territory, and considers US moves, such as arms sales to Taiwan, a violation of its sovereignty and contrary to the “one China” policy.

By sending ships to the Strait of Taiwan and providing military assistance to Taiwan, Washington is effectively supporting the island, and Beijing has repeatedly protested. However, UN member states, including the United States itself, do not recognize Taiwan as an independent state.

Beijing announced on Friday that Chinese authorities were barring pro-Taiwan separatists from entering mainland China, as well as Hong Kong and Macao.
