Chinese Foreign Minister meets with Amir Abdullahian: US must make up for its mistake in leaving Borjam


According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Group, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who visited China at the head of a high-level delegation, met today (Friday) with Wang Yi, a member of the State Council and Chinese Foreign Minister.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of political, economic, trade, consular and cultural issues, as well as regional and international issues, and discussed ways to develop cooperation in these areas.

This is Amir Abdullahian’s first visit to China since taking office. The two countries’ foreign ministers had previously met on the sidelines of the SCO summit in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, and had a virtual conversation and several telephone conversations. Wang Yi also came to Tehran in April to sign a document on the Iran-China Comprehensive Cooperation Program, which he signed with former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Amir Abdullahian called the extensive cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran with its neighbors and friendly countries in the region one of the priorities of the government’s foreign policy and stressed the continuation of the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional developments, including maintaining and strengthening energy security.

In this round of talks, the two sides reviewed the latest status of the Vienna talks and developments in West Asia and the Persian Gulf.

According to Fars, the eighth round of Vienna talks to lift US sanctions is underway in the Austrian capital, and of course, according to the agreement, senior negotiators from Iran and three European countries are scheduled to hold temporary talks and consultations temporarily for two days.
