Criticism of Tehran water wastage / Groundwater aquifers exposed to pollutants

According to Fars News Agency’s urban correspondent, Jafar Tashkari Hashemi, head of the Civil Engineering and Transportation Commission of the Tehran City Council, stated in the courtyard of the council today about water consumption in the capital: “One of the issues is the waste of Tehran water from the main network.” It is necessary to determine what the situation of loss is and whether the old piping has been considered or not?

He added: “Groundwater aquifers are exposed to pollutants and the quality of wells should be examined.” We have to see what has been done in this regard.

Also, Ahmad Sadeghi, Chairman of the Transparency and Smart City Committee of the Council, referring to water quality in different areas, said: Most of Tehran’s drinking water is from underground sources and is exposed to pollutants. Has it not been made clear whether the water consumed by the people contains nitrate or not?

A member of the Program and Budget Commission of the Islamic Council of Tehran, stating that the council estimated in 1982 that we need 50 years to complete the Tehran sewerage network, said: The completion of the Tehran sewerage network in the coming years is good news.
