Development of cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and the International Labor Organization


According to Fars News Agency Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social WelfareAli Hussein Raiatifard, who is in Geneva to attend a meeting of the International Labor Organization’s board of directors, met with the director of the organization’s governance department to discuss areas for developing cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to the tripartite system in the important decision-making assemblies of the Ministry of People, he said: “The High Labor Council, the High Council for Technical Protection and the Dispute Resolution Councils are important pillars of the development of the space for supporting working societies and employers.”

The Deputy Minister of Labor Relations of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare considered the principle of tripartism as an indisputable and accepted principle for managing labor relations and added: It is in the final stages of review in parliament.

Referring to the approval of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s accession to the 155th Occupational Safety and Health Convention, Raitifard said: “Its executive regulations are being prepared for approval by the High Council for Technical Protection.”

He mentioned the collective bargaining and agreements mentioned in Chapter 7 of the Iranian Labor Law as an example of collective bargaining as an important principle in the field of labor relations and said: Action in this area.

Ms. Viera Packet Pedigaw, Director of the Governance Department of the International Labor Organization, also expressed her happiness at the accession of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Resolution 155 and other ongoing conventions, and announced the Department’s readiness to provide services and cooperation in these areas.

Raitifard continued the meeting and during the hearing of the complaint against Venezuela, referring to the country’s action in establishing a social dialogue forum for more interaction between the social partners and the government, called for continued cooperation of the organization with this country to resolve the remaining issues.

At this meeting, the proposal of the International Labor Office on the need to expedite the actions and also to present the periodic report on the progress of the program to the 345th meeting of the board of directors was discussed and approved by the members of the board.
