A consignment containing 500 kilograms of cocaine worth more than 500 million dirhams (US $ 136 million) was smuggled into the country, the official UAE Wam news agency reported today (Sunday). Was identified by the security services in an operation called “Scorpion”.

Explaining the operation, Khalid bin Muayzeh, director of the UAE General Directorate of Counter Narcotics, said: “The process of arresting the accused began with professional 24-hour monitoring of the accused’s actions.” After receiving information that a large amount of cocaine had been smuggled through the seaport by a member of an international criminal gang of Middle Eastern nationality, a specialized team was formed and monitored the defendant until a shipment of drugs was sent. they got. The accused was supposed to take the cargo to one of the cities of the country and store it after delivery, but he was arrested during the operation.
