Erdogan: The earthquake has left 912 dead and 5385 injured


According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the headquarters of the country’s Unexpected Events Organization (AFAD) in Ankara today (Monday) and gave a speech and gave explanations about today’s earthquake.

During a press conference about this earthquake, Erdogan said: “At 04:17 this morning, the biggest disaster after the Arzanjan earthquake in 1939 that we experienced in the last century shook us. “Since the earthquake, our government has taken action with all its institutions and our governorates have mobilized all facilities.”

According to “Anatolia” news agency, he stated that 10 other governors have been appointed to cooperate with the authorities of the 10 earthquake-affected provinces and explained: “Right now, 9,000 personnel are conducting search and rescue operations, and this number is with people who came to the region from abroad. they arrive is constantly increasing”.

Presenting statistics of the earthquake casualties, the President of Turkey stated: “So far, 912 of our citizens have lost their lives and 5385 have been injured. The search and rescue activities of our citizens, who are trapped under the collapsed buildings in the earthquake-affected provinces, continue without interruption.

According to this report, Erdogan continued: “The number of people rescued from the rubble has reached 2,470. The number of destroyed buildings is 2818. We have been offered help from NATO, the European Union and 45 foreign countries.

Stating that today the 85 million people of Turkey have become united, he said: “People and institutions that go for help must act in coordination with Afad, aid other than this will cause chaos and make it difficult to achieve the goals.”

Previously, while announcing the formation of a special air corridor to send aid to the earthquake-affected areas, the Turkish Defense Minister said that all the planes of this country are on standby. (More details)
