Google apparently advised people planning to travel from Lake Tahoe to choose a forest route, but this route was blocked due to unprecedented snowfall. A person named Crustel A. Kolden sent a screenshot of the proposed Google Map route between Sacramento in California and Reno in Nevada to the company and said:

This is a scandalous mistake. You send people on a snowy road with heavy facilities in heavy snow and blizzard. Hire people who can add winter storms to your code (or ask some of your own engineers who are already stuck in Tahoe to do so).

Another Twitter user responded by saying:

Apparently, the Android version of Google Map does not show blocked routes. This is a very important issue and it can endanger people’s lives.

The Google Maps service usually suggests an alternative route very quickly in the event of an accident or heavy traffic; But apparently it does not work well in such cases. The National Weather Service said about 2.7 meters of snow fell in the area last week and the situation will not improve any time soon.

Users are advised that if they want to travel to snowy areas or icy roads, they must use other programs besides Google Map, such as Weather Channel or Accuweather, so that a mistake by Google does not cost them their lives.
