Holding a security meeting in Karbala to ensure the security of the month of Muharram
According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, while two more days are left before the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, the Karbala Operation Command (under the Iraqi Army) announced the establishment of a security meeting to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
According to Afaq news website, Major General Ali al-Hashemi, commander of the Karbala Operation Command, said in a news conference that this security meeting was conducted under the supervision of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani.
He also announced that several additional routes to Karbala-Maali, including the route from Baghdad to “Jarf al-Nasr” and then to Karbala, as well as a new route in the vicinity of Babylon, will be opened for the movement of pilgrims.
Al-Hashemi also announced the establishment of an operations and coordination room from 1st of Muharram to 13th of Muharram and said that representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the Popular Mobilization Forces and the Air Force are present in this operation room.
This highest military official based in Karbala province also announced that all coordinations with different departments of the Iraqi government have been carried out to facilitate the movement and transportation of pilgrims.
Brigadier Aziz Hashem, director of operations of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, also said in this news conference that the ministry has provided all necessary facilities to the Karbala operation command to improve the conditions of the pilgrims as much as possible.
There are two days left until the beginning of the month of Muharram (Wednesday), however, different parts of Iraq have started their duties to provide security and logistical support for the pilgrimage of millions of pilgrims.
In the meantime, since July 16, Al-Hashd al-Shaabi has started its security plan with three thousand troops in Diyala province. The province that is considered to be the main entry point for Iranian pilgrims to Iraq.
