How to control the price of home appliances? / Save $ 4 billion by internalizing products

According to the economic correspondent of Fars News Agency, the home appliance industry is one of the industries that in recent years, with the intensification of sanctions, has been able to achieve a kind of self-confidence and expand its products in terms of quality and variety. The industry, which once relied on the assembly of imported parts from other countries, especially South Korea, has now been able to separate itself from assembly and move towards relative self-sufficiency in production, relying on domestic craftsmen and localized parts.

In such circumstances, Korean companies, which once left Iran very quickly due to the escalation of sanctions, are now thinking of returning to our country’s market and are pursuing the import of their manufactured products to Iran in exchange for our country’s blocked money.

This has raised concerns among domestic manufacturers about the possibility of unbridled imports of home appliances, as previous years have seen events such as dumping (Price failure due to unhealthy competition) Korean companies ال Jay and Samsung have been in the Iranian home appliance market. This prompted them to consult with government officials and demand Prohibition Imports of home appliances to the country, especially Korean home appliances. Following the talks, the president ordered the ministers to ban the import of Korean home appliances صمت And the economy gave and it was decided that no manufactured goods should enter the country through official sources.

* The importance of controlling prices and preventing overselling

In this situation, one of the issues that is feared to be strengthened by the closing of the country’s doors to the import of home appliances, is the incalculable growth of the price of domestic products and the monopoly of Iranian factories in the supply and pricing of their products. Therefore, it is necessary for monitoring devices to perform their control function more than before and to prevent consumers from being harmed.

Keyvan Gardan, Director General of the Office of Metal Industries and Home Appliances of the Ministry of Industry, believes in this regard: In the home appliance industry, prices are not mandatory, but the support organization has a formula in the 124 system for prices to deal with unconventional prices.

He said that now this issue is observed and the prices are normal, adding: the reason for the departure of foreign companies after the imposition of sanctions was their lack of investment in our country, because the investment was made by the Iranian private sector.

“The products of Iranian home appliance manufacturers are now competitive with other similar products in the world and have high technology,” he said. “With the departure of the spheres, domestic brands have been created.” Of course, one of the important issues that we are looking for is the manufacture of components and parts of home appliances of foreign brands inside, and in this regard, there is a ground for the presence of foreign investors.

However, the chairman of the Competition Council, Reza Shiva, who is spending the last days of his term in the current term of the Competition Council, announced the need to set rules and pricing instructions for some exclusive home appliances in the next term of the council. The home appliance market has not started, however In case of import restrictions and problems in the production and supply of these items, it seems necessary for the Competition Council to enter a new round to examine the issue of monopoly in the home appliance market.

The head of the Competition Council, emphasizing that it is better to put this issue on the agenda of reviewing the new members of the council, added: Different products from several domestic and foreign brands were different in price and quality, so there was no need for the Competition Council to act in this area.

He added: “With the continuation of the ban on the import of home appliances, the share of smuggling of these items from the market, especially in products such as refrigerators and freezers.” Sideby‌Side, dishwasher or split, increased. In addition, the limited production and supply of these items has led to the exclusive supply of products of a few manufacturer brands, which has led to supply and price problems.

“With this trend, The Competition Council should develop pricing guidelines for those appliances whose exclusive production and supply is owned by one or more brands.

He stressed: “The only way to organize the market and achieve a fair price of goods and services in monopoly markets is to increase supply, and the Competition Council is trying to supply these items with fair pricing by setting pricing guidelines in monopoly markets.” Accordingly, determining the criteria and pricing guidelines for those home appliances that have a monopoly market can be on the agenda of the Competition Council.

* High production also makes the price competitive

But in this case, Jafar Ghaderi, the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Production Leap Commission, has a different opinion and believes that the pricing of home appliance products destroys the motivation of the producer, because when the producer enters the market, he has to increase his quality and competition. Quality assurance.

“We have about 500 home appliance manufacturers in the country,” he said. Due to the high volume of demand in the country and competition between producers, in addition to increasing the quality of products, prices will also be competitive.

Ghaderi said that domestic home appliance companies have become knowledge-based companies and have improved in terms of quantity and quality.

“A significant portion of home appliance parts are produced domestically,” he said, adding that both the steel industry and the petrochemical industry meet the needs of the home appliance industry.

According to the deputy chairman of the parliament’s production leap commission, there are now 25 refrigerator and eight TV companies operating in the country, and universities have entered the home appliance industry.

Ghaderi added: The path taken in the military and aerospace industries should be followed in the home appliance sector, and home appliance companies should move towards knowledge-based or utilizing the capacities of knowledge-based companies. At present, knowledge-based companies in science and technology parks have entered areas that are hard to imagine. Therefore, the home appliance industry can solve its problems by relying on these companies.

Ghaderi added: “According to the plans of the Vice President for Science and the contracts of home appliance companies with universities, there is a bright future for the home appliance industry.”

He said: “Due to the investment made in the upstream sector of the home appliance industry, new categories of products are produced every day in the petrochemical industry, which increases the quality of home appliances.”

The deputy chairman of the parliament’s production leap commission added: “In terms of investment, there should be an orientation to the downstream sectors of the home appliance industry, because not much investment has been made in this sector.”

Ghaderi said: “Considering that a significant part of the raw materials of downstream home appliances industry is imported now, investing in this sector will enable the producers to meet their needs from the domestic market.”

* Home appliance prices should be reduced

محمد رضا Poor EbrahimiThe head of the parliament’s economic commission also stressed the need to reduce the price of home appliances in the market, saying: “Support for the home appliance industry is not absolute support, but is conditional on presence in foreign markets and partnership with foreign manufacturers to gain regional markets.” .

He said that according to reports, producers were able to increase production capacity in the country with about 25% depth inside, adding: “We need to make better decisions in some items, in some items 100% production capacity is responsive.” It is the need of the country and the export capacity has been created Our average annual export is about $ 300 million, which could easily increase to $ 1 billion, and that capacity is there.

He noted that in the production of home appliances, the depth of construction is different, noting that in some items of home appliances, the depth of construction is up to 100%, in some items up to 80% and in some cases about 30 to 40%.

He mentioned: In pricing home appliance products, the view of the parliament is that the government and the ministry صمت They have a serious entry in the field of pricing and manufacturers should بهای Reduce costs, and these prices in the market should definitely be reduced.

* Save $ 4 billion by producing home appliances

Keyvan Gardan, Director General of the Office of Metal Industries and Home Appliances of the Ministry of Industry, also believes in this regard: Home appliance manufacturers have achieved national self-confidence by relying on domestic power.

He added: At the beginning of 1997, about 60% of the country’s home appliance market was dominated by foreign products, but last year we became self-sufficient in these products and produced 15.5 million home appliances, which has doubled compared to the beginning of 1997.

“If we could not produce these goods domestically, we would have to spend about $ 4 billion in foreign exchange to import them,” the battalion said.

He addedTwo years ago, we had about $ 2 billion in imports of home appliance parts, but now, with an increase in domestic manufacturing life to an average of 70 percent, home appliance parts imports have dropped to $ 1.4 billion and the value of home appliance parts has reached 30 percent.

“While in 1997 we exported about $ 10 million worth of home appliances, last year we reached $ 140 million and this year we will export $ 200 million,” said the director general of the Metal Industries and Home Appliances Office of the Ministry of Industry.

He said: The need for the import market of home appliances in our neighboring countries is $ 37 billion annually, which we have planned to enter this market.

The Director General of the Metal Industries and Home Appliances Office of the Ministry of Industry added: “Currently, in some home appliance companies, 300 elites are engaged in research in their research centers, and some of the research results are about to be exploited.”

He said: “The key to the survival of economic enterprises is the production of quality goods and the use of modern technologies in the world, and any enterprise that does not do this will be removed from the market.”

He said: Industrialized countries had strict import policies at the beginning of their industries, and South Korea, for example, banned the import of home appliances for 12 years.

The director general of the Metal Industries and Home Appliances Office of the Ministry of Industry added: “The ban on the import of foreign home appliances into the country has created a capacity for domestic companies to produce products with reasonable prices and high quality.”

In any case, the performance of manufacturers in the home appliance industry shows that if officials trust this industry, we can see its products become more competitive and currency for the country.

Some audiences of the “My Fars” system called for following up on this issue by registering a subject entitled “Prevent the rise and price of low-quality home appliances.”
