Infantino: Progress is being made

According to the Mehr News Agency and quoted from the website of the Football Federation, Gianni Infantino, the president of the World Football Federation, wrote on his social page regarding the presence of women in the Azadi Stadium to watch the match between Esteghlal Tehran and Persepolis football teams:

“In September, I was happy to meet with the President of the Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, in New York City, where we discussed the development of women’s football in the country and the progress made in the field of women’s presence in football stadiums.

Therefore, I found out with great joy that about 3,000 women were present today in the Tehran derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal. Thanks to the continuous dialogue between FIFA and the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, progress is being made. I repeat what I said to President Raisi in September that I will travel to Iran for further talks in the near future.

“The country’s football issues are a significant force in Asian football and it is important that we continue to nurture the positive and fruitful working relationship we have established.”
