Insist on holding the Golden Globes even without a TV broadcast

While the Nubian network is not scheduled to broadcast this year’s Golden Globes, the association has released a calendar of events leading up to this year’s event.

Theater News Base: The Hollywood Foreign Media Association (HFPA), which hosts the Golden Globes, plans to host the 79th edition of the awards on January 9, even if the event is not televised due to the scandals.

The organization published its traditional calendar with deadlines set in different categories. Nominated films will be announced on December 13th and the deadline for submitting projects to participate in the film and television sections expires on November 15th.

But this happened at a time when the fate of the Golden Globe Awards in February was unclear as it turned out that the organization was using discriminatory practices and did not even have a single black member.

This forced the organization to hire new members; Of course, the Anubis network, which has been broadcasting the Golden Globe ceremony for a long time, also announced that it does not intend to broadcast the 2022 ceremony because of this scandal.

The statement issued by the HFPA in announcing its 2022 calendar makes no mention of whether or not it will be televised.

Another important issue is the support of a group of powerful representatives of actors and other figures in the film industry who have pushed the organization to make more changes. They said that if the Golden Globes and other activities of the organization were not accompanied by extensive reforms, their customers would not attend the event.

Tom Cruise put more pressure on the HFPA in May and publicly returned the three Golden Globe Awards he had won in the 1980s. Cruz won the Golden Globe for “Born on the Fourth of July” in 1984, “Jerry Maguire” in 1997 and “Magnolia” in 1999.
