Israeli Saer 6 vessels will receive the Iron Dome missile defense system.

According to Sputnik, the Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has begun installing weapons on new Israeli naval vessels. The four Saer 6 frigates will receive Barak MX anti-aircraft missile systems and the Iron Dome missile defense system.

This news was published by the Navy Recognition portal.

German-made Saer 6 frigates entered Israel unarmed. The Israeli Ministry of Defense intends to turn these new frigates into floating artillery to protect the coast and facilities in its national economic zone.

The ships will receive Barak MX anti-aircraft missile systems to counter air targets as well as Sea Breaker anti-ship missiles. One of their features is having an extensive database of military and civilian ships that allows missiles to hit enemy ships without an operator order.

The vessels will receive the Iron Dome naval missile defense system to intercept the missiles. The C-Dome system, built in 2014, includes a vertical launcher for ten Tamir anti-ballistic missiles. This position of the missiles allows the covered area to expand up to 360 degrees. The C-Dome uses standard ship radar.

The US military tested the Iron Dome missile defense system in August. Two battalions of this system protect American forces in permanent and temporary positions.
