Khatibzadeh: Iran is determined to reflect the convergent and independent voice of the Islamic world



Saeed Khatibzadeh, who traveled to Pakistan to attend the 48th meeting of Islamic foreign ministers, said in an exclusive interview with IRNA on Tuesday: “Iran believes in convergence and commitment to the original ideals of the Islamic world instead of a utilitarian political view.” And is one-sided. He added: “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has faced great challenges during its lifetime, as well as challenges, just as the Islamic world today faces very serious challenges from Yemen to Syria and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Our Deputy Foreign Minister considered the philosophy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation around ideals such as the Palestinian cause and stressed that we are expected to be able to find solutions to overcome these challenges in such large and global forums.

He said: “Unfortunately, today we are witnessing some ill-considered actions by some members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in opposition to the original ideals of the Islamic world.” At the same time, as the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I declare that we expect all countries to show their commitment to the Palestinian cause and similar unifying and eternal ideals.
