Kia’s first electric car comes to market

The Kia EV6 2022 is the company’s first proprietary electric vehicle, and this stunning crossover is built on the same modular electric-global platform (E-GMP) that will underpin a range of new Kia electric vehicles. .

With an estimated range of up to 498 km and a fast charge rate thanks to its 800V architecture, the EV 6 is an example of the expanding choices and capabilities of the latest electric vehicles. It also offers two different batteries, a rear differential or four-wheel drive, and power between 167 and 576 hp, the latter of which applies to the EV 6 GT, which apparently can go from zero to 100 km / h in less than 3.5 seconds. .

Kia says it plans to build 11 new electric vehicles by 2026, the first of which is the new 2022 EV6. Now that we have seen the beautiful exterior designs and learned more about its specifications, we just have to wait for the first models to arrive at dealerships early next year.

Kia has not said how much the 2022 EV6 will cost, but rear-wheel drive models will be available with short and long range batteries. All-wheel drive models are only offered with the second model, including the high-performance EV6 GT, we also expect to see the lower-power GT-Line trim level below it on the production line.

We can not recommend the best purchase until Kia announces the price as well as the standard and optional equipment specific to each model. We think the EV6 will start at around $ 45,000 and will be around $ 55,000 when it finally sells.

The EV6, which comes with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle or an electric motor on both axles, can be configured with a rear differential or all-wheel drive. While all four-wheel drive models have a larger battery pack and 313 or 576 horsepower, the rear base model has a smaller battery and only 167 horsepower.

Choosing a larger battery increases the overall output of the EV6 rear-wheel drive system to 218 hp. Kia estimates that the 313-horsepower version will accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds. Those looking for maximum direct performance will appreciate the 576 hp GT, which has an estimated time of zero to 100 km / h in less than 3.5 seconds.

Inside, the design and layout of the EV6 is not bold on the outside, but its configuration and features look more attractive and futuristic than any current Kia model. Although the center console does not slide back and forth and lacks the front seatrest like the Ioniq 5, the EV6 combines advanced content such as a digital dashboard with functional elements such as a floating center console.
