Laptop makers are betting on AI PCs as the next big thing

According to reports, the PC market will have a positive outlook next year as laptop manufacturers are confident that the emerging trend Artificial intelligence PCs in 2024will experience an 11 percent growth.

Industry manufacturers expect artificial intelligence PCs with next-generation hardware to tempt customers to buy new laptops in 2024.

The PC industry has been sluggish over the past two years, largely because consumers have been reluctant to switch to next-generation hardware, plus issues including hyperinflation, rising prices and supply chain factors. However, with shipments expected to drop 27% in 2023 compared to 2021, TechInsights reported that next year looks set to be a “blissful” year for the PC market. This positive outlook for next year is because shipments are expected to improve due to several factors in which AI PCs are leading the way.

Predicting the growth of the artificial intelligence PC market

This mutation in personal PCs was also revealed by a market researcher named Canalys. The researcher predicts that PC shipments will reach 267 million units in 2024, a growth of 8% per year. TechInsights has revealed that global notebook sales are expected to grow 11% in 2024 compared to 2023. This uptick in sales, largely attributed to the influx of AI into mainstream markets and the consumer upgrade cycle, is likely to have more impact this time around. Moreover, the emergence of ARM-based competitors in the market is also considered as a reason for growth.

The prediction that AI will actually “save” the PC industry was previously made by Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. He stated that AI could change the current state of markets, especially when it comes to integrating AI-focused features into mainstream applications. Additionally, companies such as Qualcomm, NVIDIA, and AMD are moving towards introducing ARM-based processors to the PC industry, which will not only increase competition in the field, but also allow consumers something different. Best time to switch to next generation platforms

Aside from the influx of new products, current standards such as AMD’s AM5 platform are still readily available, mostly through a flurry of discounts and promotions. Recently, the price of AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor has reached an all-time low, making it the best time for consumers to make the switch to the next-generation platform.
AMD has also integrated its next-generation Ryzen laptop APUs with powerful new AI engines such as XDNA 1 and XDNA 2 coming in 2024. The number of shipments will reach 250 million units by 2025 and we will see a 15% growth in this sector.
