Microsoft Surface Studio Laptop – the most powerful Surface to date

The most important change that we notice at first glance to the Surface Studio laptop is the display and the new design of the device hinge. Surface Laptop Studio is equipped with a 14.4-inch display called PixelSense Flow, which has a resolution of 2400 x 1600 and, as expected, supports 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision technology. Microsoft has named the new hinge used in this laptop Dynamic Woven Hinge, while being flexible, it has more resistance that allows users to switch between different modes. In general, Surface Laptop Studio supports three modes: laptop, stage and studio.

When Surface Studio is in laptop mode, it looks just like a regular laptop with a full keyboard and a new touch-receiving feedback system. Most interesting is probably the stage mode of Microsoft’s new Surface laptop, where you can press the screen at a certain angle and adjust it for tasks such as gaming, streaming or presentation. In this case, the device keyboard is covered, so it is used for tasks such as watching movies and series or playing games or anything that can be done with the device’s touch screen. You can also use the new Surface Slim Pen 2 in this mode.

Supports three different modes – a versatile laptop

The third and final case that Microsoft calls Studio Mode is derived from its name. In this case, the user can write, design or any other type of artwork with the device. Microsoft has not chosen the title of fashion tablet for this case because the company’s new laptop, which weighs about 1.8 kg, is not light enough to carry the title of a tablet. The thickness of the device is about 7.0 inches. Microsoft has fixed the lack of detailed Surface Book design in Surface Studio, and many parts have been removed from the model for a simpler structure. This increases the strength of the device and reduces the chance of it breaking down. The Surface Slim Pen 2 is also neatly mounted on the base of the laptop. Interestingly, Microsoft sells this stylus separately and does not come with a laptop.

In terms of hardware, Microsoft’s new Surface Studio laptop will be available in a variety of configurations with Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors. The version with Core i5 processor comes with Intel Iris Xe graphics, while the Core i7 configuration will be sold with Nvidia’s proprietary RTX 3050 Ti graphics chip, which uses 4 GB of video memory. In terms of memory, this laptop is produced in two configurations of 16 and 32 GB and with a maximum of 2 terabytes of removable SSD. With these specifications, the Surface Studio laptop will even be able to run the latest PC games. However, this device is not completely mentioned as a gaming laptop.

Price and time of supply

As expected, the Surface Laptop Studio supports the Thunderbolt interface. This device is equipped with two USB 4 ports with the Thunderbolt 4 standard, and for charging the battery, it uses the Surface Connect charging port, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Thunderbolt support means you can connect multiple 4K displays to this laptop, or use high-speed external storage or even external graphics to turn your device into a fully gaming laptop.
