National Basketball Team Coach: We were neither good nor bad, but we are going to the World Cup

According to IRNA, after the defeat of the Iranian national basketball team against Kazakhstan in the World Cup window, Mostafa Hashemi emphasized: “We expected the game to be followed in the final moments in a way that would determine the winning team.” Unfortunately, we lost our balls when we could have reacted positively. We did not play well tonight, but we were not bad either.

He continued: “The important thing is to learn not to repeat our mistakes and to learn from it.” From now on, we have to think about the Syrian game and focus on it, but I have no doubt that we will reach the World Cup.

The head coach of the Iranian national basketball team reminded: Kazakhstan is a team that plays physically and if we are equal again, the work will be played in the last minutes. We went to the field with what we had and we have to learn that maybe one day we will not have all our stars and we will play based on the current situation.

Regarding the game against Syria, Hashemi said: “They do not have good conditions in Kazakhstan, but that game is also difficult.” First we have to free the minds of the players and play with an open mind.

It is worth mentioning that the Iranian national basketball team played against Kazakhstan in the first match of the second qualifying round of the 2023 World Cup, and in the situation where it was the top team until the fourth quarter, it lost the game with a result of 73-69.
