Netflix released the most transparent statistics about its viewers

According to Fars Cinema Reporter, this online streaming service announced in a note that this report titled “What we watched; The Netflix Interactive Report, which will be published twice a year, added that the move was a “big step forward” for the film industry.

This broadcasting and production giant started publishing the list of 10 most watched titles on a weekly basis from 2021.

This report measures the total number of hours a product has been viewed and is only specific to titles that have been viewed for more than 50,000 hours. Netflix has been using this method to calculate for years, but until now the data has not been publicly released.

As part of the Writers Guild of America agreement passed in October, streaming services such as Netflix and Disney Plus have pledged to increase transparency about the number of hours their shows run.

The report covers 18,000 titles broadcast from January to June and calculates the number of hours watched.

. The Night’s Watch, Season 1 (812 million hours)
. Ginny and Georgia, season 2 (665 million hours)
. Iftikhar, season 1 (662 million eight hundred thousand hours)
. Wednesday, season 1 (507 million seven hundred thousand hours)
. Queen Charlotte: The Bridgerton Story (503 million hours)

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos announced in a conference that the most effective way to measure participation is through viewing hours and the lack of transparency creates a cycle of mistrust regarding the data.

“This is probably more information than you need. But I think it creates a better environment for the community, for us, for producers and for creators.”

The company emphasized that this data shows the strength of the later seasons of series such as the fourth season of “You” (440 million six hundred thousand hours) and the third season of “Foreign Shores” (402 million five hundred thousand hours).

The report also revealed that viewers follow a variety of genres. On average, members watch six different genres per month, and Netflix’s most-watched titles are from more than 12 different genres, said Lauren Smith, vice president of global strategy and finance.

At the end, Netflix confirmed that the previous top 10 lists completely overlap with this report, with 60% of the titles appearing in the top 10 list.
