New UNICEF Director Appointed

According to IRNA, Catherine M. Russell will replace Henrietta H. Fore from the United States.

According to the UN statement, Ms. Russell has decades of experience in developing innovative policies to empower disadvantaged communities around the world.

Russell has also launched several high-impact programs to protect women and girls, including in humanitarian crises, the statement said.

Ms. Russell now serves as Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Presidential Office.

From 2013 to 2017, she served as Secretary of State for Global Women Affairs at the State Department.

Former UNICEF President Henrietta H. Four has worked in the US public service for more than four decades, as well as in private and non-profit organizations.
