Only half of the municipality’s 1400 non-expert budget has been received

According to the Fars correspondent, the bill “Budget Amendment approved in 1400 of Tehran Municipality” was examined in today’s meeting of the city council.

After providing initial explanations by the Deputy Minister of Planning and Affairs of the Tehran Municipal Council, Habib Kashani said: “Currently, we only want to approve this bill as a matter of urgency.”

Mohammad Akhoondi pointed out that the approved budget of 1400 has been observed and shows that only 50% of the budget has been achieved. He said: “We still received the same 50% of income in the first week of December, and sometimes the expenses are more than the income.”

He called last year’s municipal budget unrealistic and unprofessional, and considered by some to be political.

Unrealistic growth of the budget compared to previous years

The head of the Program and Budget Commission of the Tehran City Council stated that the percentage of budget growth from 1995 to 1999 was 26% at best, but during one year (1400) we had 63% budget growth, which shows that this growth was not real.

Emphasizing that the budget should be more realistic, the cleric said: “There are points in the details of the proposed bill that should be reviewed in the commissions, and it seems that an immediate vote can help the review to take place.”

Meysam Mozaffar stated that requesting urgent approval does not mean approving the content. He emphasized: we will take action to collect the demands that we ask from the institutions and the help of the private sector in the development of the city.

Mehdi Chamran asked, “Do you have the opportunity to check for an emergency within a week?”

The municipality has never introduced a bill to reduce the budget

Nasser Amani said: “According to this bill, they want to increase the budget of 1400 billion 1400 to 35 thousand billion, which is unprecedented in the history of urban management and the municipality has never introduced a bill to reduce the budget.”

He continued: The budget of 1400 has been integrated in the notes and lines and has not increased significantly. In the past, comments were never collected, and the Fifth Council has collected budget lines and comments and reached this figure. Therefore, these ambiguities should be removed, what will happen to the comments?

Kashani emphasized: it is an urgent task of the budget and one should not speak against it.

Mehdi Abbasi said: Is it possible to achieve the desired quality in a week? And we will see a 12 trillion budget cut and its effects next year.

Finally, an urgent budget amendment approved in 1400 of Tehran Municipality was approved with 18 votes in favor.
