Pompeo and retreat from ill-considered options for Iran

According to IRNA on Wednesday, the Jerusalem Post quoted Mike Pompeo as saying that military action “does not benefit anyone.”

He also commented on Borjam and reiterated his support for the US withdrawal from the agreement and the Trump administration’s policy of maximum pressure on Iran, claiming that by doing so, Washington was able to prevent Iran from gaining access to resources and threatening countries in the region.

Pompeo also referred to the US terrorist operation in Iraq and the martyrdom of General Soleimani to justify this terrorist and inhumane act, claiming that it showed the US will to protect its interests around the world.

He claimed that if Trump had been in office for another year or two, cooperation between Tel Aviv and Washington would have hampered Iran’s nuclear progress.

The former US Secretary of State also spoke in support of the crimes and occupations of Tel Aviv, rejecting the Israeli occupation, calling it an “anti-Semitic lie” and US support for the occupying regime in Jerusalem an expression of “American patriotism.”

He did not call Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas a man of peace, but said it was in the Palestinians’ interest to enter into talks with Israel. He added: “There are complex issues, but you can not solve them when the situation is not in your favor by encouraging your people to intifada.

Asked about the possibility of normalizing relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh, he claimed that several countries would recognize Israel.
