Preview of the Core i9 12900HK – the most powerful notebook processor

Before the official release of the Alder Lake H laptops, we see the initial review of the Core i9 12900HK during the PCWorld podcast. Despite being unveiled at CES 2022, we are still a long way from releasing notebooks equipped with the twelfth generation of Intel chips.

However, during The Full Nerd Special podcast, Intel’s PCWorld website teamed up with the editorial team to demonstrate Alder Lake H performance. While the benchmarks were done by Gordon Ung, the systems tested were provided by Intel itself. And the system actually means a laptop model, the MSI GE76 Raider.

Preliminary review of the flagship Core i9 12900HK processor

The car looks similar to the previous model, but internally it has been updated with Alder Lake processor, faster graphics, new generation memory and better cooling (liquid metal). MSI has also increased the maximum power consumption to 220 watts, while only Gafik is capable of 175 watts (GeForce RTX 3080 Ti only).

The system tested by PCWorld uses a 14-core Core i9 12900HK processor (flagship Alder Lake H), 32GB of DDR5 4800 memory and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics (non-Ti model). These tests are compared to the GE76 notebook with Core i9 11980HK processor (Tiger Lake H flagship) and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics (165 watt version) as well as ASUS ROG Strix Scar G17 with Ryzen 9 5900HX chip and 130 watt GeForce RTX 3080 graphics.

We only share part of the charts and if you want to see the full performance you need a website PCWorld Check or wait for the full review to be published.
