Qureshi: We want broad, long-term and stable relations with the United States

According to the correspondent of Fars News Agency’s regional offices; “We want broad, long-term and lasting relations with the United States to enhance economic cooperation and peace in the region,” Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations, Afghanistan and the situation in the region.

Qureshi stressed that a proper dialogue between the two countries is essential for the mutual interests of the United States and Pakistan, as well as the realization of regional goals.

“Pakistan and the United States have similar views and stressed the importance of a peaceful solution to the situation in Afghanistan,” he said.

“We hope that the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan, along with peace and stability, will work to improve the situation for all the people of Afghanistan,” he said.

According to Qureshi, an inclusive government in Afghanistan can be a reliable partner for the international community.
