Restoration of Karaj historical bridge is waiting for funding

According to Aria Heritage, quoting the public relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Alborz Province, Fereydoun Mohammadi announced this news on Saturday, December 4, 2014, saying: “It has been stopped due to non-allocation of funds.”

The director general of Alborz Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts stated: “This year, 400 million tomans have been allocated from the provincial resources for the restoration of this bridge, which will be paid to the contractor of this project due to debts.”

“Last year, experts estimated that the bridge would be repaired at 500 million tomans, but after the initial repairs began, it became clear that the amount of damage was more than the experts estimated,” he added.

Referring to the initial renovation of the Karaj Dokhtar Bridge, he added: “Last year, 500 million Tomans were allocated to this project by the Ministry and the then Minister, and this credit was also spent for its renovation.”

While emphasizing the importance of preserving historical monuments, Mohammadi noted: “Pol-e Dokhtar is considered by everyone as a symbol of the province’s identity, and the officials are pursuing its restoration as much as the people.”

“Although the rescue operation of this bridge has been completed and there is no serious danger to this structure, the necessary measures should be taken as soon as possible to complete its restoration,” said the director general of Alborz Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts.
