Rostami: The suspension of judo is not an excuse to stop moving

“Ayub Rostami” In an interview with IRNA on Thursday, he stated: “After holding the national championship, the third stage of the camps in Lorestan will be followed and will continue until the 13th of Bahman.” The first stage was held in Azna city and the second stage was held in Anzali.

He said that there are currently 30 judokas in the youth team camp, adding that the selected members of the national competitions along with the talents who could not win medals but have good technical conditions and can still be in the youth for 2 years are in the camp. Also, 2 heavyweight judokas who have been introduced by Khorasan Razavi talent scouts are in the army and we are evaluating them.

Rostami explained about his colleagues in the technical staff of the youth judo team: We divided the team into two parts, A and B. In team A, “Mohammad Reza Ghaffari”, “Behzad Vahdani” and “Ehsan Bahramian” are present, and in team B, “Alireza Madani” and “Muslim Rahimi” are present as coaches.

Regarding the stability of Iran’s judo activities despite the suspension by the World Federation, he stated: “We must move forward and the suspension is not an excuse to stop moving.” If we do not act, the judokas of the basic ages will disappear spiritually. Judokas are now in the army and training in good conditions.

The head coach of the youth judo team continued: “The basic categories are very important because they will reach the senior national team in the coming years.” They have the space to prepare and to strive spiritually. Eventually the suspension ends and then we are not empty handed because our national competitions and camps are held without interruption.

Rostami stated: The federation organizes camps, and if we did not have a camp for a while, it was because of the corona restriction that the disciplines were involved with. We also closed the camp in January due to the presence of teenagers in the exams so that they would not face any problems.

He added: “We tried to select team coaches from different parts of the country.” They also identify talented judokas by appearing in cities.
