Sajjadi: We try to host spectators in the derby / If permission is not granted, we must comply

According to Tasnim news agency, Hamid Sajjadi, the Minister of Sports and Youth, regarding the discussion of the presence of spectators in the eighth week match between Esteghlal and Persepolis, which will be held next Saturday, said: “We are trying to make the best decision.” As a sports community, we are also interested in spectators in the stadiums. I am a sports myself and I understand sports and my thought is that sports should be held in the true sense of the word, that one of the pleasures of sports goes back to the presence of spectators.

He continued: “We are talking and trying, and if something happens, it will be related to the meetings and consultations in the next one or two days, and the final decision will be made.” We try and ask that this happen if possible. If in any case in these meetings at the Corona Anti-Corruption Headquarters or the Provincial Security Council, for any reason it was decided not to have spectators in these games, forgive me the least. We still need support, tolerance and patience.

The Minister of Sports and Youth emphasized: If we are not going to have spectators, I, as the servant of Sports and Youth, apologize and respect the medical staff. If a permit was issued to host spectators from both teams (Esteghlal and Persepolis) in a limited number of stadiums, especially in the upcoming derby, I would ask that we follow the protocols and spacing and observe the situation of others ourselves.
