According to Verge’s reportA video published by Samsung shows the Zoom Anyplace feature with the ISOCELL camera and the Snapdragon 8 generation 3 chipset. Zoom Anyplace feature in Galaxy S24 Ultra
Zoom Anyplace automatically detects and tracks subjects in a video, keeping the entire frame in focus. This means that the sensor is essentially capable of recording two streams of 4K video: one of the cropped and zoomed area, and the other of the overview. With this feature, the user can change the framing after completing the imaging and have the output in both 2x and 4x zoom.
It also automatically tracks subjects and adjusts focus on the fly. As the direction of the camera changes and the subject moves closer and closer to the camera, the focus does not change and it is recorded in 4K resolution.
This feature uses a new method based on artificial intelligence called “E2E AI Remosaic” to process images. Currently, the ISOCELL sensor processes photos sequentially, color by color and layer by layer. But the new method does this in parallel. Color, tone, noise reduction, sharpness, HDR, white balance and lens shade correction are all done simultaneously and instantly. This feature also increases the shooting speed by 2 times and leads to a reduction in processing time and a better image.
Before Samsung, the Honor 90 phone also offered such a feature. On the Honor version, both videos were captured in 1080p resolution, but now Samsung claims the feature will be capable of recording 4K even with 4x zoom.
We are likely to see this feature in Samsung’s 2024 flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung will unveil its new flagships at the Unpacked event (probably in the first weeks of 2024).
