According to IRNA, the 25th World Taekwondo Championship, which started on Monday, November 23, with the participation of 755 taekwondo players from 120 countries, hosted by Mexico at the “Metropolitan” Hall in Guadalajara, last day in the weights of minus 63 kg for men and minus 53 women were followed up.
In the women’s group, Nahid Kiyani, weighing minus 53 kg, passed the first round with a rest draw, defeated McCoy from Great Britain in two rounds in the second round, and then lost to Zhu Zhu from China with the same result and was eliminated from the round. The competition is over.
In the men’s group, Metin Rezaei defeated Davy Guardio from Colombia 2-0 in the weight minus 63 kg, then he won 2-1 against Hakan Rechaper, the famous Turkish champion and holder of the 4th world ranking and Olympic bronze medal. Our country’s representative lost 2-1 in the round of 16 against Niaz Polatov and was eliminated from the tournament table. The first round of this match ended 7:3 in favor of the Uzbek opponent, but in the second round, Rezaei managed to end the result 11:4. In the third round, while Rezaei was trailing 9:4 in the fight, he managed to make up for the difference in 15 seconds to the end, and the fight was ending with a 9:9 tie, when the Uzbek opponent scored 2 points, and in the end the fight was 11:9. It ended in Niaz Polatov’s favor.
So far, Sajjad Mardani, Reza Kalhor and Mehran have won three bronze medals for the national team of our country. Abolfazl Abbasi, Ghazal Soltani, Narges Mirnowallahi and Zainab Esmaili lost to their rivals.
The national women’s taekwondo team is led by Mino Madah as the head coach; Neda Zare and Mehroz Saei accompany him as coaches. In the men’s group, Bijan Moqanlou is the head coach, and Masoud Hajizavareh and Naima Khajovi are the coaches of the national team.
