The car import decision will be finalized this week

According to Eqtesadonline, quoting the world of economics; It was on the 24th of September that the Islamic Consultative Assembly approved the plan to liberalize car imports with a high vote, so that after more than three years, the spell of importing foreign cars would be on the verge of breaking. One week later, however, the Guardian Council announced that the car import bill was ambiguous, so it referred it to parliament for amendment. Although the Guardian Council was expected to raise major issues, including the inconsistency of car imports with the resistance economy, the council did raise general ambiguities, and many experts and even lawmakers spoke of resolving them.

According to them, the objections of the Guardian Council to the decision to import cars are not difficult and can be resolved. Now, as the members of the Industries and Mines Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly state, this week the car import decision will be re-examined in the presence of Minister Samat, so that the necessary amendments can be made public to address the Guardian Council’s objections and, if approved, Send to the Guardian Council.

In this regard, Ali Jedi, a member of the Industries and Mines Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, told Mehr News Agency that a meeting of the Industries Commission will be held on Tuesday this week in the presence of Minister Samat and a final conclusion will be made on correcting the shortcomings of the car import plan. Minister Samat was present at the meeting, but he has previously stated that he opposes the import of cars at this time (at least until the end of the year). Reza Fatemi Amin emphasized that it is better to postpone car imports until after solving the country’s currency problems.

According to Jedi, members of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries and Mines have reached conclusions on how to correct the Guardian Council’s objections to the car import plan, so it is unlikely that the Guardian Council will approve the resolution. He stressed: “Two proposals regarding the transparency of the source of foreign exchange for car imports and the duties of the Ministry of Silence regarding imports have been finalized, but its details cannot be announced before the final meeting.”

According to another member of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries and Mines, a meeting was held last week with government and private experts, component makers, the Parliamentary Research Center and members of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries and Mines, as well as a member of the Guardian Council. Car import approval was shared. Hojjatullah Firoozi, stating that Minister Samat was not present at the meeting, said: “The positive thing about this meeting was that it was emphasized that the Guardian Council did not object to the parliament’s decision and there were only a few ambiguities that the council referred to the parliament to resolve.” have given.

In addition to the statements of the members of the Parliamentary Industries Commission, the spokesman of the Guardian Council also emphasized that if the objections and ambiguities of the car import decision are resolved, the council will not have a problem with it.

According to the statements of the MPs and the spokesman of the Guardian Council, it seems that the decision to import cars does not have a difficult path for final amendment and approval (by the Guardian Council). Although the Board of Oversight of the Implementation of the General Policies of the Previous System has taken fundamental objections to the car import bill, calling it contrary to the resistance economy, experts believe that with the approval of the Guardian Council, car imports can be resumed.
