The construction industry of the “Third Metro Rail” was localized


According to Fars News Agency’s urban group, امام Ali Imam, CEO of Tehran and Suburbs Urban Railway Company, stated about the establishment of the “Inside Construction” working group of the metro company in June 2009: The task of this working group is to identify and negotiate with local builders and knowledge-based companies. They have the necessary equipment for the metro.

The CEO of Tehran and Suburbs Urban Railway Company further stated: If the parts meet the standards required by Tehran Metro Company, and also if the manufacturer has the conditions for cooperation and is among the three authorized suppliers of Metro in the tender, in the main list of suppliers Will be allowed.

Emphasizing that identifying and supporting domestic manufacturers will prevent the Tehran Metro Company from buying the required parts from abroad, Imam added: “Of course, various measures were taken in the past to support domestic products, but in two years.” In the past, efforts have been made to take this issue more seriously.

He said that the formation of this working group had valuable results, adding that even a number of domestic manufacturers in the equipment sector were among the authorized suppliers, and in some cases, parts were purchased to complete lines 4, 6 and 7.

The CEO of the company further stated: Jet fans of air conditioners, escalators (used to be bought from foreign companies but now zero to one hundred are produced domestically) and now “Third Rail” are among the parts that are made by domestic manufacturers.

In response to the question that often the percentage of the cost of the domestic sample is reduced compared to the foreign one, Imam explained: The production cost does not necessarily decrease with the internalization of the parts at the beginning of the work. When a manufacturer starts operating, with support and mass production, it can reduce the cost of the part in question compared to the foreign sample.

He further stated: When a piece is purchased by Tehran Metro Company from a domestic manufacturer, product approval by Tehran Metro is the criterion for purchase for other metropolises.

The CEO of Tehran and Suburbs Urban Railway Company, announcing that currently two companies (one company affiliated to the Ministry of Defense and another private company) have been able to jointly build the third rail in the past two years, added: “For this purpose, these two companies Are among the authorized suppliers. Domestically produced “third rail” tests were performed at one of the metro terminals to ensure that it was standard.

Imam announced the period of localization of knowledge for the production of the third rail as two years, and in explaining this part, stated: Metro wagons need a power supply (electricity) to move, which is fed through the rail.

In the end, he said, the third rail is a way to provide train power that is placed between the rails of the railway.
