The Polish army arrested hundreds of refugees

According to IRNA from AFP; The G7 foreign ministers also called on Minsk on the same day to end the migrant crisis.

It is estimated that some 2,000 refugees, mostly from the Middle East near the Belarusian-Polish border, are in dire straits, desperate to enter the EU via Poland.

Although the EU has accused Minsk of creating the crisis in retaliation for imposing sanctions on Belarus, which was part of the former Soviet Union, Minsk and Moscow have denied the allegations, barring the EU from allowing asylum seekers to cross. They have criticized the country’s border with Germany.

Belarus has said it wants to reduce the crisis, following calls from the European Union and G7 ministers to end an aggressive and exploitative campaign against migrants.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s spokeswoman Natalia Ismont said on Thursday that the number of asylum seekers in the country was close to 7,000, of whom 5,000 would be repatriated, and that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the European Union were working on a crossing. Humanitarian will advise the passage of the remaining 2,000 asylum seekers to Germany.

About 200 to 300 migrants were flown back from Belarus to Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan on Thursday and 431 to Baghdad, the capital.

The English-language network of Polish state television started broadcasting on Thursday to show the reality of the migrant crisis on the Belarusian border.
