The project of making a children’s Instagram application was stopped

Instagram has officially stopped working on the children’s Instagram app. Adam Moseri says that making Instagram Kids has a lot of problems.
It was in early 2021 that Facebook announced that it was working on a special version of its Instagram app for children. In fact, the company wanted to create a version of Instagram in which it would distribute content for children, such as what Google provides with Youtube Kids. But now it seems that the project of making a children’s Instagram application has stopped.
The reason for stopping the children’s Instagram project
Adam Moseri, the head of Instagram, said in a post:
We believe that it is better for parents to provide their children with a version of Instagram designed for children (where parents can better monitor their children’s use), rather than using an application that even the age of children Not allowed to open an account.
While this user experience needs to be developed, we decided to stop this project. This gives us more opportunities to work with parents, experts, policymakers and executives to listen to their concerns and prove the importance and value of this project to teens who are online these days.
In his post, Moseri noted that some critics have criticized the development of a children’s Instagram app independent of the main app, but he says teens are online these days and it is better for them to build a standalone app. The head of Instagram also says that the version that the company intends to develop is not similar to the current Instagram and has no ads. In fact, all the content that is displayed is suitable for teenagers.
From what Moseri says, Instagram seems to be having a hard time building the platform. Even Google has not performed flawlessly with Youtube Kids. But why Instagram stopped the children’s Instagram project is a bit surprising, and we don’t know if they will launch the project again.
