The Taliban delegation left for Doha to hold talks with US officials


According to Fars News Agency’s Afghanistan website, officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban interim government announced the visit of a delegation from this group to Qatar to hold talks with the American delegation.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, a spokesman for the Taliban’s foreign ministry, said the delegation headed by Amir Khan Mottaki left for Doha this evening, December 25th.

Representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Education, Health, the Department of Information and the Central Bank are on the board.

The Taliban delegation in Doha is scheduled to discuss with the high-level US delegation various issues, including the liberalization of Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves.

Talks between the Taliban, the United States and the European Union will continue from November 27 to 28.

Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said the United States and the Taliban would begin the Doha talks next week.

Political issues, frozen assets of Afghanistan, humanitarian aid, education, health, opening and security of embassies in Kabul have been announced as topics of discussion.
