Tied to Vienna Talks / American Hostage Fails Spy – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Mehr News Agency, International Group: The English-language Tehran Times devoted its report today to clarifying the word “hostage”, which the United States is currently seeking to find a place in the literature used in the Vienna talks.

The story began when US Special Envoy Robert Mali, in contradictory statements, set a new precondition for reaching an agreement with Iran, which focused on accompanying a number of foreign nationals or dual nationals who admitted to spying for the Washington administration. , Have a history of detention in Iran.

Although Mali acknowledges that the case of four dual nationals detained in Iran is separate from that of the Vienna talks, he also made the release of those four a precondition for reaching an agreement with Iran.

Aside from this apparent contradiction, it is Robert Mali’s use of the word “hostage” that is considered questionable.

“The two are separate, but it is very difficult for us to imagine a return to the agreement as long as four Americans have been taken hostage by Iran,” he told Reuters. Therefore, although in the nuclear case, we are pursuing indirect negotiations with Iran, we are still indirectly pursuing talks with them in order to ensure the release of our hostages.

The allegation focuses on the word hostage, while all four detainees, who hold US citizenship in addition to Iranian citizenship, are accused of spying for the Washington government.

Such an atmosphere is created by the actions of a number of anti-regime Iranians and foreigners who have a history of detention in Iran and have now launched a campaign in front of the Vienna talks, the alleged goal of which is the release of the four dual nationals.

Tehran Times writes in response to this campaign: Iran has not rejected the exchange of prisoners with the United States, while in no way does it accept this action as a precondition for reaching an agreement in Vienna. In fact, it follows from the recent stance of the United States, which seeks to abuse the Vienna negotiation process to ensure the release of those accused of espionage.

Nizar Zaka, who was arrested in 2015 in Iran on charges of spying for the United States in Iran and released in June 2019, is one of the people who joined the campaign for the release of dual national prisoners in front of the Vienna Negotiation Hotel.

The Tehran Times recently reported that Zaka applied to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service on April 20, 2020, but the response he received from the organization was so disappointing that he decided to reach out to some Influential people in Washington, including Robert Mali, to become US Special Representative for Iran.

Zaka was granted permanent residency in the United States in mid-April 2012, but his application to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services in April 2020 was rejected due to his long absence from the United States.

Zaka, meanwhile, has openly admitted that he was detained in Iran for collaborating with the Washington administration, despite his long absence, in order to convince Citizenship and Immigration officials that Informed, he also described the trip to Iran, which was done with the permission and financial support of the US State Department.

Zaka was forced to talk in detail about what he had done in Iran before his arrest in order to change the immigration office’s decision, which in turn led to his confession that he had made the trip under a contract with the US State Department. And constantly reports to them.

He also admitted that he held a security post during the mission, which required strict security measures.

These are all statements made by Zaka himself, while Iran has long said that he was detained while spying in this country. This is despite the fact that many in Washington, as well as in the mass media, believe in the fact that he has gone so far as to carry out dangerous actions in Iran; They refuse.
