UN: Humanitarian activists do not have access to areas in Ukraine

“The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grande, who is visiting Ukraine for the first time since the Russian military invasion, called for an end to the war,” UN Under-Secretary-General Farhan Haq told reporters on Friday. At the same time, he called on the international community to continue to support the millions of civilians affected in Ukraine.

The deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary-General added: “Grandi visited a refugee reception center in Ukraine, which is set up and run by the authorities with the support of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. This is one of the 70 centers that have already been evaluated and equipped.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21 (March 2, 1400) recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns.

Three days later, on Thursday, March 26, Putin launched a so-called “special operation” against Ukraine, turning tense Moscow-Kiev relations into a military confrontation. Conflicts in Ukraine and reactions to Russia’s action continue.
