UN Special Rapporteur’s investigation into a prisoner / Athena Permanent visits family and lawyer 34 times

According to Fars News Agency, in response to the tweet of Mary Lalour, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, and her claim that Athena was permanently barred from contacting her family, the Human Rights Headquarters wrote: Special Rapporteurs must rely on credible sources. The Human Rights Office investigated the reporter’s published report and the results are as follows: Ms. Daemi has met with her family and lawyer 34 times over the past seven months. He also has no problem contacting his family, according to the relevant regulations.

“I hear disturbing reports that Athena has not been allowed to contact her family for more than two months,” Lullor tweeted. I call on the Iranian authorities to make an immediate telephone call.

“The allegations made by the UN rapporteur come at a time when all prisoners in Iran have the right to contact and visit their families and lawyers in accordance with the rules and regulations,” the UNHCR news website concluded.
