UNICEF stands ready to strengthen cooperation in organizing street children



In a joint meeting with Massoud Goodarzi, head of international affairs and deputy head of the Social Affairs Organization, and representatives of the General Directorate of Foreign Citizens and Immigrants and Public Relations and Information of the Ministry of Interior, Ted Chayban expressed satisfaction with the Ministry of Interior, IRNA reported on Tuesday. Presence in Iran, he said: “We hope this joint meeting will be a basis for improving services for street children in Iran.”

“We will do our best to ensure that sanctions do not adversely affect the provision of essential services to children,” said UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Let’s take action.

Referring to his visit to one of the street child care centers, Chabian continued: “During the visit, we realized that the esteemed President of Iran also visited the child care center, and this shows the importance of issues related to organizing street children in Iran.”

He also said that in Iran, according to the report, a council called the Social Council of the country is engaged in major social affairs under the direct responsibility of the President, adding that UNICEF is ready to cooperate and exchange experiences with the Social Council of the country.

UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa continued: “In the field of hosting the Islamic Republic of Iran from foreign nationals and paving the way for free education for children of authorized and illegal foreign nationals, the hospitality of the Iranian people is general and special. It should also be effective from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Referring to the fact that the aid provided to the Islamic Republic is insignificant, Chabian added: “For my part, I will try to increase cooperation in organizing street children, and I hope that we will be more successful with effective measures in the field of attracting more material support.”

Noting that there is a readiness to review and exchange the successful experience of other countries in the field of organizing street children, he added: “We must make the most of successful models in this field.”
