US: Russia has focused its attacks on four regions, including Kiev

The U.S. official told reporters Thursday that Russian airstrikes focused on Kiev, Chernihiv, Izium, south of Kharkov, and the Donbas region.

The US official stressed that despite Russia’s announcement of a reduction in military operations around Kiev, the city is still at risk of airstrikes.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns.

Three days later, on Thursday, March 26, Putin launched a so-called “special operation” against Ukraine, turning tense Moscow-Kiev relations into a military confrontation. Conflicts in Ukraine and reactions to Russia’s action continue.
