US Secretary of Defense and King Bahrain discuss regional developments

Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa spoke with Lloyd Austen about the latest developments in the region and the world and bilateral strategic cooperation, IRNA reported.

According to the report, the King of Bahrain stressed the need to continue sending humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and its people.

The Secretary of Defense also thanked Bahrain for its cooperation and assistance in withdrawing US troops and nationals from Afghanistan.

The US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, who are in the Middle East, met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Monday night to discuss developments in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, Anthony Blinken and Austin discussed developments in Afghanistan and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the country.

The US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense expressed their gratitude to US President Sheikh Tamim for Qatar’s role in the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and Doha’s support for the peace process.

The two sides also discussed other important issues and bilateral initiatives to enhance security and prosperity in the region.
